Julia is a case manager/advocate for parents with an intellectual disability at Intellectual Disability Rights Service (IDRS) in the Parents' Project.
She has been at IDRS for 4 years working first in the Criminal Justice Support Network (CJSN) coordinator for a before taking up the role of parent case manager/ advocate in 2013.
Julia has worked in the disability sector formally for 10 years in a number of different roles and informally for 20 years. Her background includes working in disability day centres, as a Citizen Advocacy coordinator, a consultant for self-manage packages, a trainer for the multicultural communities council and a support person for adults with intellectual disability.
She is passionate about ensuring the parents that she works with are supported to be provided a fair go in the care system, and has extensive practical knowledge and experience to share in this area.
