If the words ‘budget’, ‘debt recovery’ and ‘cash flow’ bring fear into your heart this package is for you.

Beginning with the basic concepts of accounting and the importance of financial management to the health and success of an organisation, the package then outlines the procedures and documents that are normally associated with budgeting processes. Common types of financial reports are examined and explained. There is an emphasis on application of these skills to your workplace.

This package is suitable for people who develop budgets, but also for those managers who are monitoring a budget that they have not developed.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the purpose and terminology of budgeting and financial management
  • Understand basic accounting principles involved in budgeting, cash flows, financial statements, accrual accounting concepts and electronic spreadsheets
  • Understand how to negotiate required changes to budgets and financial plans
  • Understand how cost management plans are developed
  • Analyse budgets and identify contingency plans
  • Identify the skills involved in managing financial management processes, the range of financial roles and responsibilities in the organisation and how to manage financial risk
  • Review and evaluate financial management processes
