Group Work – facilitating groups for outcomes

The workshop that will explore how to develop, implement and evaluate community based activities through applying evidence and measuring outcomes. The facilitator will provide practical examples and case studies to help workers follow a simple process to design programs that are relevant to the reformed TEI funded program and encouragement from whole of government to be outcomes focused.

Activities will include examining performance accountability, using local data to inform program design, and combining practice wisdom (workers individual knowledge) with an evidence base of ‘what works’ to report improved outcomes for the participants in their programs.

The course will provide participants with a knowledge base to go back to their service and community and engage in conversations about how they can support the measurement of outcomes, use data and apply evidence in their individual programs. This knowledge will be practiced through ongoing engagement in reflection and continuous quality improvement principles and evident in improved outcomes for participants in their individual programs.

Course participants will walk away with a clearer view of what is meant by ‘evidence informed’, ‘outcomes focused’.

  • Participants will have improved knowledge of what evidence informed, outcomes focused means for their work.
  • Participants will have increased confidence to engage in program planning and development.
  • Participants will have a better understanding of performance accountability and how to engage in continuous quality improvement of their programs.
  • Participants will have an increased awareness of the value of data and evidence in program design and delivery.
