Operational Plan: The Key Tool for Managing Your Organisation

Gain the skills to develop an operational plan based on the strategic plan, in consultation with staff and other people affected by it. Learn about supporting and motivating staff and teams to implement the plan. Develop ways to measure the achievement of the plan in line with a results based accountability framework.

You will learn:

  • The difference between a strategic plan and an operational plan
  • A step by step operational planning process
  • What to include in an operational plan
  • How to write an operational plan that includes achievable objectives and meaningful measures/indicators
  • How to match resources to your plan, develop proposals to acquire them, and to monitor the use of those resources
  • How to manage organisational risks and to develop a ‘back up’ plan
  • To develop guidelines and practices for the smooth implementation of the plan
  • Ways to monitor and support staff and teams to implement the plan
  • How to keep the plan on track through monitoring, reviewing and reporting

You will have the opportunity to work on an operational plan for your organisation/program/team, so bring along a copy of your plans, such as strategic or operational plans (if they have them).
