Those who hold Board or Management Committee responsibilities with an NGO have very clear duties and legal responsibilities. These duties and responsibilities include a duty to act in good faith and in the best interests of the NGO. Penalties may be incurred if such duties and responsibilities are not carried out properly. Conflicts can also arise where the personal interests of a Director or Committee Member on a Board or Management Committee conflict with the interests of the NGO.
