Casework is at the core of many community service roles but can be a complex process involving multiple stakeholders and client needs. It is important to have a strong understanding of the theories and models of case management, and a range of strategies in working with the client. This distance package includes tools and practical suggestions for all stages of the case management process and is particularly suited to new and inexperienced case workers or managers, although anyone who wants an overview of case management will benefit.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about case management models, processes and roles
  • Examine effective methods of engaging with clients, including involuntary clients
  • Identify and use assessment tools and screens
  • Learn how to develop the case plan and coordinate the required services
  • Consider how to run a case meeting
  • Identify practices for review and case closure
