This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the major anxiety disorders, including diagnosis, epidemiology, assessment, comorbidity, and treatment strategies. It is relevant to those seeking greater understanding of anxiety disorders and effective treatment approaches and strategies.

The workshop provides a sound basis to self understanding and management of anxiety. Day one will cover recognising and assessing various anxiety disorders and frameworks for understanding anxiety problems. Day two will explore effective, evidence-based approaches to treatment including CBT, exposure therapy and an overview of medication that may be of assistance. Participants will have the opportunity to recognise, assess and treat anxiety disorders through case studies and group based activities.

This workshop will provide the opportunity to:

  • Gain a sound understanding of the major anxiety disorders in DSM-IV and DSM-V
  • Recognise anxiety disorders and their presentations
  • Understand how anxiety disorders are developed and maintained
  • Learn and practice assessment approaches and treatment strategies and tools
