Disability Good Practice Symposium: Working with vulnerable children with a disability

The symposium will provide an opportunity for practitioners to highlight innovative, positive approaches to the significant challenge of supporting children and young people living with disability who are in out of home care, or who are at risk.  

This symposium is suitable for  practitioners and managers who are working in out of home care, family preservation and support, restoration, after care / extended care across NGOs and DCJ.

Numbers are limited but if the session is full please leave your name on the waiting list. We may be able to increase the numbers of participants if there is demand.

Morning session – Practitioner presentations
A range of practitioners will be chosen ro report on their approaches, using questions such as
a) What the particular challenge you were addressing?
b) How did you respond?
c) What were the outcomes for the child / young person?
d) What learnings / messages can you share with sector colleagues?

Afternoon session – Practice workshops
The practice workshops will provide an opportunity to work in a facilitated group to respond to a particular focus area or challenge. Each attendee would be able to participate in two workshops.
