The workplace is increasingly being recognised as the key site for ongoing learning and development, and there is greater emphasis on leaders passing on their knowledge and skills. We can support people’s development through planned, structured processes of coaching and also through more experiential learning processes. Many studies on learning organisations have also noted the potentials from building an environment that supports everyday learning exchanges.

We will discuss strategies to establish your role as a coach/mentor and to negotiate expectations. The workshop provides a framework for you to plan an effective learning pathway for someone, using the reflective – action cycle. We will use resources to assist people to form learning goals and design learning opportunities to suit their learning style. We will also discuss the different approach that is needed to engage more experienced staff as well as ‘rookies’.
